2LT Georgia Jones ’24
Georgia is the 2024 recipient of the Southampton-West Point Scholarship. Originally from Mount Vernon, New Hampshire, Georgia’s academic interests center around the intersection between law, human rights, and the environment. At West Point, she majored in Law and Legal Studies while also serving as the Cadet-in-Charge of the Resnick Center’s Human Rights Initiative (HRI) and as Environmental Officer for the Corps of Cadets. Inspired by her trip to Ghana last summer, she has focused on children’s rights to a healthy environment, research she presented on a Human Rights Initiative panel on Projects Day. This May, Georgia was commissioned into the Engineers branch. She will ultimately pursue a career in the US Army Corps of Engineers’ Environmental Management Program after completing a Master of Science degree in Environmental Consultancy at the University of Southampton, in the UK.
