2LT Alexis Bradstreet ’24
A Cyber Science major born in Landshut, Germany and raised in Richardson, Texas, Alexis is a recipient of a Marshall Scholarship. From the time Dr. Frey taught her as a plebe, Alexis was eager to take advantage of the many opportunities afford by the Resnick’s Center to explore how emerging technology shapes human behavior. She was a RCHGS intern at the US Army War College in the summer of 2021, where she worked on the International Strategic Crisis Negotiation Exercise (ISCNE) and contributed to the revision of the digital case study of LTG (R) Roméo Dallaire, working with Dr. Geheran. Alexis was also one of the original members of the Human Rights Initiative (HRI) and played a lead role in bringing the Guatemalan Genocide Mapping Project (see writeup in the September 2023 newsletter) to fruition. She won a STAMPS scholarship which enabled her to pursue interests in mis- and disinformation studies. Alexis was a regular participant in the Center’s annual trips to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, presenting her research at the 2022 JSAMAPS. More recently, she delivered a paper in Sicily, Italy, exploring the historical use of disinformation during Operation Husky in 1943, and gave a paper at the Purdue Military Research Institute outlining a data-driven approach for evaluating and implementing digital literacy solutions tailored to a population’s needs. She also presented her research at the Naval Postgraduate School’s Symposium on Information Strategy and Political Warfare, exploring the potential increase in distrust that results from discourse about misinformation. Alexis commissioned as a Cyber officer. During her two years as a Marshall Scholar, Alexis hopes to continue her research into disinformation and its role as a risk factor in mass atrocity risk.
